Our Green Story

We believe sustainability adds value for our business, our guests, and the wider community. We’re proud members of Green Tourism, and this partnership highlights our ongoing commitment to reducing waste, conserving resources, and minimising our environmental impact.

Our Path to Zero Waste

Reducing waste is a core goal on our journey toward zero waste. We actively recycle plastics, paper, cardboard, batteries, and printer cartridges, and we’ve embraced paperless operations through digital receipts and documents, creating a nearly paper-free environment.

Both our staff areas and guest rooms/apartments reflect our commitment to reuse and recycling. Staff are provided with reusable mugs and bottles to eliminate single-use plastics, and we use recyclable cups and stirrers to help reduce landfill waste.

When sourcing products and services, we partner with companies that share our eco-values and prioritise local and fair-trade suppliers who align with our mission for sustainability.

Saving Energy and Water Together

Energy efficiency and water conservation are top priorities. We offer an opt-out housekeeping program, allowing guests to skip daily towel and linen changes, helping to conserve both water and energy.

Our future sustainability plans are ambitious. Over the next few years, we’ll be undertaking extensive renovations to align our practices, materials, and service providers with our environmental values. Our long-term goals include achieving zero waste and carbon neutrality. Key focus areas include:

  • Energy Efficiency: Installing LED lighting and motion sensors, upgrading to energy-efficient appliances, and exploring renewable energy options like solar panels.
  • Water Conservation: Adding low-flow showerheads, faucets, and toilets, incorporating drought-resistant plants in our landscaping, and implementing rainwater harvesting.
  • Heating and Cooling: Using programmable thermostats, enhancing insulation on doors and windows, and introducing a key card system to power down electricity in unoccupied rooms.

We’re also committed to eliminating single-use plastics across our operations by 2025 and expanding our green spaces to support urban wildlife and connect our guests with nature.

Strengthening Local Partnerships

To enhance our regional impact, we encourage guests to support the local community. By offering unique local experiences and exclusive discounts, we aim to inspire guests to shop locally while supporting nearby businesses.

Our Environmental Policy

We acknowledge that our operations may impact the environment and are committed to reducing any negative effects. We strive to improve continuously by following best practices in sustainability, and we encourage our team, suppliers, and guests to join us in being environmentally aware.

Waste Reduction

Our efforts to minimise waste include:

  • Recycling plastic in guest rooms and staff areas.
  • Recycling wastepaper, cardboard, and packaging.
  • Recycling printer cartridges and batteries.
  • Operating a “near paperless” system, only printing when necessary.
  • Reusing scrap paper and completing new-starter documents online with e-signatures.

Responsible Purchasing

We consider environmental factors in our purchasing decisions:

  • Sourcing amenities and food locally when possible.
  • Choosing fair-trade products.
  • Promoting an opt-out option for housekeeping to save water and energy.
  • Using LED bulbs to reduce our energy footprint.
